Marcel Van Assen professzor tart előadással egybekötött interaktív workshopot Explaining significant findings in published papers címmel

Időpont: 2013. május 2. (csütörtök) 13 óra
Helyszín: MTA TK SZI Könyvtárszoba

Az előadás absztraktja:

Most of published papers contain significant findings. Several mechanisms are responsible for the ubiquity of significant findings, such as: (i) statistical power, (ii) the proportion of true associations in a field, (iii) researcher degrees of freedom, (iv) publication bias, (v) fraud. I am going to explain each of these mechanisms and report evidence of them in current research. One evident conclusion is that current research practices are far from perfect. Possible solutions are proposed. Some of these solutions can be implanted straightforwardly by individual researchers, others need the whole scientific community to cooperate.
