The research

The research aims to discover differences of subsistence strategies and income producing abilities among Roma and non-Roma poor population living in various regions of the country. Results of earlier – mainly anthropological – researches indicate that Roma communities might substantially differ with respect to their subsistence provision, income producing capacity, and life strategies. Comparative sociological research has not been conducted in the field, yet. This research will produce a secondary analysis of available data and besides conduct qualitative, community field studies in selected regions in order to map various types of subsistence strategies and income producing abilities of Roma communities and individuals, as well as to present personal and community networks and their role in the success of the communities.
